- La Torre alle Tolfe is a historic estate located just 10 minutes from Siena, rooted in a site documented since the 8th century, when Charlemagne commissioned a tower for his knight Tolfo dei Gricci to communicate with the city.
Today, the estate is farmed according to regenerative and organic principles, with the environment, soil health, and biodiversity at the center of every decision. Vineyards and olive groves are cultivated without chemicals, aiming to regenerate living soils and preserve the natural balance of the ecosystem.
The vineyards grow on sandy soils rich in ancient oyster fossils, a rare geological feature that brings natural freshness, acidity, and saline tension to the wines. We work almost exclusively with autochthonous Tuscan varieties, believing they are the most honest expression of this place.
The production focuses on six wines:
a Sangiovese Rosato
two Chianti wines:
a Sangiovese aged exclusively in concrete
a Chianti Riserva aged one year in chestnut oak
three single-varietal wines vinified in purity from Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, and Colorino
In the cellar, we follow a minimal-intervention approach: spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts, no oenological additives, gentle handling, light filtration, and very limited sulphites. The goal is not to shape the wine, but to let the soil, the varieties, and the vintage speak clearly.
Torre alle Tolfe produces authentic, site-driven wines with energy, identity, and transparency—made for importers and markets seeking wines with integrity, identity, and a strong environmental commitment.
