Fattoria di Petrognano
Information
- Description
- Fattoria di Petrognano, owned by the Pellegrini family, is located near Florence, in Montelupo Fiorentino, the Tuscan city known for its ceramics, and extends over 85 hectares in the Chianti region, of which 25 cultivated with vineyards. The company has decided to focus on local varietals such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano e Canaiolo and the so-called international varietals have been eradicated in favour of new clones and massal selections of local varietals, save for 2 hectares divided between Merlot and Syrah: this choice was a result of the unique features that these wines have produced over the years. The other key element of Fattoria di Petrognano’s new programme is the shift to organic, with the awareness that this is the best way to showcase all that the region has to offer, resulting in high-quality wines. The aim of the company is to adapt the vineyard’s activities to its different microclimates through a precision winegrowing management model called Animavitis® that provides an objective and detailed picture of the Vineyard. This mapped overview allows users to identify how each parcel of the vineyard excels. The company produces also extra virgin olive oil and honey
