Les Caizergues (Domaine)
Information
- Description
- Nestling in the foothills of the Cévennes, north of Montpellier, Domaine les Caizergues boasts a history steeped in both viticulture since the 11th century and silk production during the golden age of sericulture in Languedoc. But the estate has now begun an exciting new chapter.
In 2017, Pat and Bob Middleton, British passionate oenophiles and entrepreneurs took over the estate. Their acquisition resulted from a profound desire to root themselves in this unique terroir. Surrounded by an experienced French team with the same passion, they are now striving to preserve and enhance the identity of Domaine les Caizergues.
The Alliance of Soil and Know‑How
Respect for the terroir and its heritage is the cornerstone of Domaine les Caizergues’ approach. Here, authenticity is no empty word: it is reflected in 32 hectares of vines cultivated organically.
- **A mosaic of soils:** Vines sink their roots into high‑quality stony soils, dominated by clay‑limestone, bringing complexity and structure to the wines.
- **A highly desirable climate:** At over 150 metres altitude, the vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean climate with significant thermal variation. The combination of generous warmth, refreshing night‑time coolness, and moderate rainfall allow the grapes to ripen slowly and bring a delicious freshness to our wines
- **A Majestic Setting:** The vineyard stretches from the commune of Brissac to the Buèges valley, at the foot of the impressive Séranne range of hills.
### Revealing the Terroir
In the cellar, the primary goal is to reveal the pure expression of fruit and terroir, never to mask it.
- **Optimal Maturation:** Grapes benefit from ideal ripening conditions, producing elegant tannins while preserving freshness and aromatic quality.
- **Precision and Mastery:** Vinification is conducted with precision, combining expertise and modern techniques to ensure wines that are both structured and refined.
- **Authenticity:** Each cuvée is crafted to express its identity without artifice, so every sip tells the story of the Languedoc and the Cévennes.
