Fattoria San Michele a Torri
Information
- Description
- Fattoria San Michele a Torri is located in the heart of Chianti, 15 km away from Florence. It takes its name from the village in which it stands, and is located on a beautiful hill at the gates of Florence, from which you can admire the wonderful Tuscan landscape full of vineyards, olive groves and woods. It covers 2750 acres of land of which 222 acres are cultivated with vineyards, 346 acres with olive groves and the remaining part with arable land, forest and Cinta Senese breeding (they live free range within the property).
Paolo Nocentini, current owner of the company, has given new impetus and development to the traditional agricultural activity, expanding and renewing the crops and directing it towards the organic production of typical Tuscan products.
The territory of Fattoria San Michele a Torri is located between the wine areas of Chianti Colli Fiorentini (185 acres of vineyards) and Chianti Classico (37 acres of vineyards) where fragrant, velvety red wines of great character are produced from the vineyards of both production areas.
Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG and Chianti Classico DOCG and IGT Toscana wines have always been produced in this area. The most important grape variety for us is Sangiovese, but we also have small areas of complementary vines such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Montepulciano, Malvasia Rossa, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and white grape vineyards of Trebbiano, San Colombano, Chardonnay, Pinot White and Petit Manseng. The planting density is high (5000-7000 plants per hectare) and with grape production per plant of 1-1.5 kg.
Production:
• Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG 200.000 bottles
• Chianti Classico DOCG 75.000 bottles
• IGT Toscana 50.000 bottles
Our wines are fruity and modern, with a clean and rounded taste by giving value to our traditional grape varieties. After the fermentation process in steel and concrete, the DOCG are refined in typical 25 hl French oak barrels and some IGT in Barriques and Tonneaux.
