La Prade Mari (domaine)
Information
- Description
- The Domaine is located in the south of France, in the Hérault region east of Minervois, between
Carcassonne, Béziers and Narbonne.
Benefiting from a microclimate, the 30-hectare vineyard is planted on silty clay soil, nestled
away from the wind on the southern slopes of eroded ‘mourels’, surrounded by Mediterranean nature
consisting of scrubland, Aleppo pines and olive trees.
On this terroir, the Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Grenache grape varieties, as well as Viognier and Roussanne,
benefit from optimal conditions to flourish.
In 1964, Pierre Mari and his son Laurent left their farm in the Algiers region of Algeria
where they grew vines, orange trees and olive trees, to settle in the hamlet of La Prade.
Drawing on their experience, they rebuilt a vineyard. Using all their family's expertise in producing high-quality wines,
they cultivated this terroir to create authentic wines.
Today, grandson Éric Mari is continuing this family tradition by creating high-end wines
that combine finesse and subtlety with structure and complexity.
With enthusiasm and rigour, he produces red, white and rosé wines designed to awaken the senses,
always perfectly blended, revealing aromas that are as pleasant as they are atypical for the region. They
marvelously combine elegance, power and subtlety in a wonderfully orchestrated interplay of purple hues
on the palate.
Since 2009, the estate has been cultivated using organic farming methods.
Éric Mari has also opted for Naturo-Culture, a method that applies the main principles of naturopathy to agriculture, based on physical, chemical and bioelectronic analyses of the soil, plant sap, musts and wines, and scientific protocols.
Éric's words:
From the outset, I decided to focus on quality, with low yields and specific barrel ageing.
A word from Eric:
From the outset, I decided to focus on quality, with low yields and
specific barrel ageing. My range consists of high-quality, aromatic,
refined and complex wines.
Since 2009, I have been cultivating my vineyard using organic farming methods, as I pay
particular attention to life and health. After extensive research, I finally
found the technique that suits me: Naturo-Culture. Pleased with the results already
achieved, I continue tirelessly to search for the best way to work with my
wines to reveal the best of Nature.
In parallel with my wine-growing activity, I am developing wine tourism by offering various
activities such as tasting in the cellar (the estate's wines, food and wine pairings) and
visits to the vineyard.
