Di Giovanna
Information
- Description
- The Di Giovanna family property is located in an oasis of biodiversity within the Nature Reserve of Monte Genuardo. Mountain viticulture is practiced, with peaks of altitude that exceed 800 meters (2,600 ft.) above sea level.
The family has cultivated vineyards for five generations. In the 1980s Barbara and Aurelio Di Giovanna began an intense work of experimentation and clonal selection, continued by the children Gunther and Klaus.
The estate vineyards and winery are located in southwest Sicily, between the provinces of Palermo and Agrigento, just 40 km from the Mediterranean coast. The property of 65 hectares of vineyards extends between the DOC Sambuca di Sicilia, where the vineyards climb up to 850 meters on limestone rich soil, and Contessa Entellina DOC, a hilly area that reaches 480 meters above sea level, where the soils are of volcanic origin. All the vineyards are grown organically, certified since 1997.
