JANASSE (domaine de la)
Information
- Description
- In 1967, Aimé Sabon took over the vineyards from his father and father-in-law. In 1973, Aimé built his
own winery. This was the birth of Domaine de la Janasse, named after the family farm at "La Janasse"
in Courthézon.
In 1991, Christophe Sabon joined his father, who left him the keys to the winery. Under his impetus, La
Janasse took on a number of different vintages, conquered new markets and established itself as an
integral part of its times. Christophe's sister Isabelle joined the team in 2001. With Aimé's wife Hélène,
the family was reunited at La Janasse, which in just a few years became one of the jewels in the crown
of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The estate extends over 90 hectares of vines, nestling on remarkably diverse terroirs. Rolled pebbles, red
clay and fine sand rub shoulders, giving the grape varieties a unique range of expressions. Each parcel is
meticulously tended, revealing the quintessence of this exceptional terroir. Since 1973, the Sabon family
have been passionately cultivating their ancestral know-how, giving birth to exceptional wines that
sublimate the richness of the terroir.
