- Description
- Domaine des Maels is above all a love story, the meeting of two oenologists, Morgane, from Brittany, and Frédéric, from Alsace. We took the plunge and created our own estate in our own image. That was 20 years ago - what a challenge!
We settled in the Minervois, in the village of Argens Minervois near Carcassonne, on the banks of the Canal du Midi. Organic farming was an obvious choice; the estate has been certified for over 15 years. We wanted to go further, so we practise AGROECOLOGY. First of all, our vines are farmed using agroforestry methods. We plant hedges around our plots and trees in the middle of our vines. The aim is to bring back biodiversity. At the same time, we plant plant cover between the rows so as to avoid ploughing and store carbon in the soil. Our soils are alive.
Our work in the vineyards enables us to make fresh wines. Our different cuvées are divided into 3 ranges:
- Our authentic wines vinified by terroir.
- Our signature wines are made without added sulphite.
- Our wines for pleasure are our fresh and tasty cuvées
