Domaine Caroline Bonnefoy

Description: Located in the heart of the Valréas terroir, Domaine de Lumian spans 35 hectares. Cool subsoil and an altitude ranging from 210 to 260 meters on the slopes give this terroir one of the latest ripening in the appellation, allowing for optimal phenolic maturity without excessive alcohol levels.

The estate has been committed to organic farming since 1999.

Production consists primarily of red wines (70%), complemented by rosés (20%) and 10% white wines.

Winemaking:

• Red: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan; traditional vinification with crushing.

• Rosé: Cinsault and Grenache; low-temperature vinification.

• White: Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Marsanne, and Roussanne; low-temperature fermentation.

It was in 1999, after studying oenology, that Caroline Bonnefoy decided to become a winemaker. Today, the vineyard covers 45 hectares of vines spread across four appellations: Valréas, Cru Rasteau, Cru Beaumes de Venise, and Ventoux.

Since 2005, Gilles Phétisson has managed the organic viticulture, while Caroline dedicates herself to winemaking. Passionate about her craft, Caroline strives to express the terroir and grape variety to the fullest in her wines.

Organic winemakers Gilles Phétisson and Caroline Bonnefoy have worked together since 2005. They vinify their respective estates separately: "Lumian" for him, "Bonnefoy" for her.
