- Domaine Coste-Moynier is located in the South of France, in the Languedoc region, in a commune, Saint-Christol, that owes its notoriety to the production of excellent wines for nearly a millennium.
The Domaine de la Coste lives up to its name, in an area of "Costières", a term that refers to rocky hills located between the mountains and the coastline visible on the horizon.
The wines of Domaine Coste-Moynier are recognized by the specialized press and have been regularly awarded medals since the first year of production at the estate.
The soil of the estate's vines is of the Villafranchian type with large rounded pebbles.
Cultivation and tillage are made difficult because of the large number of stones.
On the other hand, these soils benefit from an intense organic life thanks to the very good permeability of these clay-limestone soils and the pebble – clay complexity.
During the summer and hot weather, these underground pebbles retain pockets and droplets of water. While the surface pebbles release heat during the night.
In any case, the phenolic maturity at the estate is very often optimal for the historical grape varieties: Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre...
