Valérie COURRÈGES CLOS TERRE KERMÈS

Valérie COURRÈGES CLOS TERRE KERMÈS

Information

Description
In 2019, I had the opportunity to acquire a wine estate in the heart of the Cahors region — a land of exceptional character and remarkable potential, nurtured by old vines deeply rooted in Jurassic clay and limestone soils.
Convinced of the richness and uniqueness of this terroir, I chose to invest here with both passion and high standards. My approach is driven by a pursuit of authenticity and excellence, highlighting the pure expression of the soils and grape varieties through wines that are alive, sincere, and full of character.
The vineyard is divided into two separate plots of 11 hectares each, which were immediately converted to organic and biodynamic farming and certified in 2022.
The first plot, located in the commune of Montcuq, is planted with Syrah, Gamay, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. Although it falls within the AOP Coteaux du Quercy, I have chosen to bottle it as Vin de France in order to free myself from the sometimes restrictive rules of the appellation and to embrace a viticultural philosophy focused on respecting life, allowing the terroir to fully express itself, and preserving the wine’s natural character.
The second plot, situated in the commune of Sauzet on the plateau terroirs of the AOP Cahors, lies on rich, complex soils. The alternation of friable limestone and deep clay gives the vines an exceptional capacity for adaptation: increased resistance to drought, natural drainage during heavy rainfall, and ideal anchoring to express the full finesse and intensity of the Cahors terroir.
Each parcel is cultivated with precision and dedication, following a philosophy in which respect for the soil and the plant guides every decision.
