- Ideally located in the North-East of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, on the very renowned sandy terroirs of this historic appellation, the Clos du Caillou (a real Clos of 17ha of vines surrounded by a stone wall of more than 3km long), is a family wine estate, belonging to the Pouizin-Vacheron family, now represented by the fourth generation. The estate extends over 51 ha (9ha in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 42ha in Côtes-du-Rhône), conducted in Organic Farming, certified since 2010, and in Biodynamics, in order to promote biodiversity and respect the soil and living things. The wines, characteristic of their terroir, have great finesse and a lot of elegance.
In 2020, the Vacheron family decided to buy the Domaine de Panisse, an exceptional wine property of 12ha of vines, on different terroirs, located just 2km from the Clos du Caillou. The vineyard has traditional grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault), some of which were planted between 1924 and 1950. This year, the Domaine de Panisse wines have been awarded the “Organic Agriculture” certification. As soon as we set foot on the land, we decided to run the vineyard using Organic Agriculture, a philosophy that we have been pursuing at Clos du Caillou for 20 years.
