Tenuta Santa Lucia Biodinamica

Tenuta Santa Lucia Biodinamica

Information

Description
We are a Biodynamic and Organic (both certified) winery located in Mercato Saraceno, Emilia-Romagna, in the heart of the Valle del Savio, at the slopes of the Apennines. We work in organic and biodynamic way from the first moment in the field to the last step of production. For us, certifications are very important and are a guarantee of certainty for both the consumer and the producer.

By choice, we only work with indigenous grape varieties from our area exclusively in biodynamic and organic way (e.g. Albana, Centesimino, Pagadebit, Rebola and, most of all, Famoso which has the DOC only in our village: Mercato Saraceno and we rediscovered and registered this grape that was completely disappeared.

We do not work with international grape varieties whatsoever.

In the past, for many years, our region has been undervalued, over-exploited and devalued. Emilia-Romagna is a region with an enormous and centuries-old wine history and variety.

Our goal is to represent our corner of the world in the most authentic and truthful way, so we produce only native grape varieties, using indigenous yeasts, to represent our terroir. When someone drinks Tenuta Santa Lucia, they are drinking a part of Romagna, specifically: Mercato Saraceno.

The labor in the vineyard must be perfectly integrated with the winemaker's activities in the cellar, so the goal is to use only indigenous yeasts and to follow spontaneous fermentations so that the grapes are not transformed into wine, but rather accompanied in its becoming, always one step behind, so as not to disturb the harmony of the site and thus let the product express itself freely and give a taste in the glass, to those who sip it, that is the truth of that place, as the Romans used to say "Genius loci".

It's me, Rosa, Andrea (my brother) who carry on the winery started by our great-grandparents and carried on by our father Paride, agronomist and main oenologist of the winery. We are roughly 10 to 15 people in total working at Tenuta Santa Lucia.
