Cabotte (domaine la)
Information
- Description
- The “La Cabotte” estate takes its name from a dry stone shelter built to withstand the harsh summer weather and the rigors of winter. This 35-hectare estate is managed using biodynamic farming methods. A lover of Provence and the wines of the Rhône Valley, Gabriel d'Ardhuy, renowned winemaker and owner of Domaine d'Ardhuy in Burgundy, acquired a 45-hectare estate in 1981 in the heart of the Massif d'Uchaux, northeast of Vaucluse in the southern Côtes du Rhône. He entrusted the property to Marie-Pierre, one of his seven daughters. Partially abandoned, she patiently rehabilitated the terroir, reshaped the old terraces, and restored the estate to its former vocation: wine growing. In 1986, her husband Eric joined her in the adventure, and finally, their son Etienne joined them in 2016. Together, they continue to reveal the originality and purity of this terroir in their wines.
In 2005 and 2015, the estate was enriched with the acquisition of two plots of Châteauneuf du Pape.
