- Description
- Château Paquette is a 25-hectare family vineyard in the commune of Fréjus on the Côte d'Azur, halfway between Saint Tropez and Cannes.
Situated at the eastern end of the Côtes de Provence Appellation, the vineyard is rooted in soil derived from the degradation of the Estérel massif, a volcano more than 250 million years old. These volcano-sedimentary soils are sandy-clay, poor in organic matter.
The proximity of the Mediterranean Sea and the relief help to generate an almost constant wind regime that alternates between the 4 cardinal points. This ventilation moderates the sometimes excessive summer temperatures and prevents spring frosts.
These are the foundations on which the Côtes de Provence Fréjus appellation is built.
It was in 1952 that Gilbert and Marcel Paquette arrived in Fréjus after leaving the Juras region to live out their dreams in Ethiopia. They brought back the Judas lion as their symbol.
After the arrival of Pascale and Jean in 1967, Sophie and Jérôme (oenologist) are now at the head of the vineyard.
In 2025, Arnaud Paquette represents the 4th generation, and is preparing to take over the running of this family passion.
All our vines have been organic since 2014.
In 2024, a new turn was taken with Demeter biodynamic farming. Our only watchword is to take care of our land.
Our annual production is 130,000 bottles.
Among our wines, the Cuvée Thémis is a Côtes de Provence Fréjus rosé made from 66% Tibouren and 34% Mourvèdre grapes. It is suggested that it be kept for at least 6 years. This cuvée is listed by the international association of rosés de terroir.
