Richeaume (domaine)
Information
- Description
- This estate in the commune of Puyloubier, at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire, is set in red earth. Its history goes back more than forty years. German-born Henning Hoesch, a professor at Yale, left the American campus in 1972 and bought this 65-hectare estate, which was then uncultivated. He planted 3 hectares of vines and experimented with organic farming. Very quickly, the wines stood out for their intense body and fleshiness. Sylvain, his son, has continued the adventure, respecting the soil, avoiding intervention in the vineyard and using modern winemaking tools. The whites, Provençal to the core, are radiant; the authentic reds display the refreshing profile of Mont Sainte-Victoire, all the more so as the perfect ageing, in both amphorae and barrels, lets the soils speak for themselves. A vertical analysis of recent vintages recently confirmed the estate's excellent consistency.
