La Roque (château)

Description: Château La Roque is a historic and iconic wine estate nestled in the heart of the Pic Saint-Loup appellation, in Fontanès, north of Montpellier. Covering nearly 80 hectares, including around 42 hectares of terraced vineyards, the estate offers an exceptional landscape: a natural south to south-east–facing amphitheatre carved into the garrigue on a limestone scree terroir.

The remains of a feudal castle bear witness to the estate’s rich and ancient history, and the property is distinguished by its commitment to biodynamic viticulture, aiming to express the purity, minerality and character of its terroir.

Grape varieties & cuvées:
• Reds and rosés are primarily crafted from Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault.
• Whites include Bourboulenc, Rolle (Vermentino), Roussanne, Viognier, Assyrtiko, Malvoisie.
• Among the flagship wines is “La Cupa”, an elegant Syrah-Mourvèdre blend regularly praised by the wine press.
