Château de Rougeon
Information
- Description
- Rougeon has been a wine estate for over 200 years. Located between Givry and Montagny in the heart of Burgundy Côte Chalonnaise, it has been in the family for 6 generations. With my sister Florence we cultivate 12 ha of Burgundy and 1 ha of Fleurie (Beaujolais)
Alone on its hill, Rougeon is timeless. Its location at an altitude of 350 meters and above all the diversity of its soils from granite to limestone on the same site give the estate and its wines an incomparable richness. Aligoté is the estate's main production with magnificent granite terroirs in the heart of predominantly limestone Burgundy.
Our entire vineyard has been grassed for 40 years. All our plots are grazed by our flock of sheep to mow, fertilize and maintain the vineyard. We also have cows on the estate's plots.
We have installed beehives, replanted trees and hedges. We then produce our own compost from plant matter, manure from our animals and grape marc.
On the estate, energy is above all focused on biodiversity and the perfect maintenance of the vineyard.
The vinifications are made without inputs. the wines are aged in vats or barrels for 12 months before bottling without fining or filtration.
